New Tehri : Stanford University situated in California in the United States has come up with a list of the top two percent of scientists in the world. In the list released by the American university, three professors from Uttarakhand have found a place in the chart. Three teachers from Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal Central University — Professor RC Ramola, Professor RK Maikhuri and Dr. Ajay Semalty have made it to the list of top scientists. Professor Ramola a senior professor in the Physics Department at SRT Campus. Professor Maikhuri is Head of Department of Environmental Science and Dr. Semalty is an Assistant Professor in Pharmaceutical Science in Srinagar Campus.
Professor RC Ramola and Professor RK Maikhuri secured the position on the list for the second time. Dr. Ajay Semalty has figured on the chart for the third time. All three of them are considered experts in their fields. The faculty members of the university have expressed happiness over the achievements.
The Stanford University conducts study and compiles the data of the work done by the scientists and comes out with the list of top rankings. The survey assesses the most prominent research done by the universities according to which the ranking list is prepared and released. Now Professor Ramola has also joined the two per cent club of top scientists of the world.
Professor Ramola has been involved with research work for the past 30 years in the field of radiation protection and earthquake forecasting. Seventeen students have completed their Ph.D. degree under Professor Ramola. He has more than 200 research publications in the journals of international repute and visited numerous countries for scientific deliberations. He has won Dr AK Ganguli national award among other recognitions so far. He has worked as director of SRT Campus for three consecutive terms (2013 to 2019). Presently he is also the coordinator of the Foreign Students Office of the university.
