Pithoragarh: There is immense potential for adventure tourism and sports in Uttarakhand.
Uttarakhand is not only famous for its Char Dhams, Himalayas, herbs, military abundance but also for adventure sports. If the activities of adventure tourism get publicity, then these activities can be organized throughout the year in the state of Uttarakhand. With this, not only the utility of natural resources would prove to be employment supplement, but employment opportunities would also increase. This universal acceptance of Uttarakhand that the soldiers, forests and water of this place are of no use is continuing unabated even today. Water flows from rivers and ponds and comes out irritating the mouth. By writing a letter, the youth runs away to other states for employment and the forests surrounded by pines are getting destroyed by the fire. The wealth of Uttarakhand remained limited only on paper. While we have a wealth of natural resources. But due to lack of proper planning, policy and leadership, the migration from the villages of Uttarakhand has not stopped even today. Sometimes government, non-government organizations promote adventure sports like mountaineering, river rafting, climbing etc.
Keeps on increasing. Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam keeps on sponsoring various types of events and adventure sports in Kumaon Mandal. Children of various schools enjoyed river rafting at Sangam Joljeevi in Kali Gori of Dharchula tehsil of Pithoragarh district. The children learned the nuances of this adventure sport river rafting and expressed their desire to participate more in such activities in future. School children participated enthusiastically in the four-day river rafting training organized by the Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation, sponsored by the Uttarakhand Tourism Department of Pithoragarh district. Dinesh Gurrani, Manager, Adventure Tourism, Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation, told that the Kumaon Mandal Development Corporation has organized a rafting in the Kali river of Jauljibi. Schools on the banks of Kali river Jauljibi, 122 students of Inter College, Bagrihat, Ascot were linked with rafting training as well as the cleanliness program under Himalaya Bachao Abhiyan, as well as information about disaster management and swimming was also given. He told that the corporation organizes such adventure sports from time to time. Due to this, people get more opportunity to know and understand nature near them and employment opportunities also increase at the local level.
If adventure sports get proper publicity then tourists will be attracted to visit Uttarakhand throughout the year. Meaningful utilization of natural resources and employment generation can complement each other for the development and progress of the state.
