Uttarkashi: Seven dead, 27 injured after bus falls into George

Uttarkashi: At least seven persons were killed and and 27 were injured after a private bus fell into a deep gorge near Gangnani on the Gangotri National Highway in Uttarkashi District on Sunday. The death of 7 persons were confirmed by District Disaster Management Department. All the injured passengers have been admitted to a hospital. A total of 33 passengers onboard and the bus was going from Gangotri Dham towards Uttarkashi. All of them were residents of Gujarat. Rescue operations are currently underway at the scene.

 According to information, bus number UK 07 PA 8585 carrying pilgrims from Gujarat fell into a deep gorge near Gangnani on Gangotri highway. The accident took place when the bus was going from Gangotri Dham towards Uttarkashi. The District Disaster Management Department has confirmed that 7 people died in the accident. Injured are being sent to hospital by 108 service and ambulance. There were around 33 passengers in the bus. On getting information about the incident, a team of police, SDRF and NDRF started rescue operations at the spot. Uttarkashi DM Abhishek Ruhela and SP Arpan Yaduvanshi have reached the spot. District Administration said that helicopters have been asked to be kept ready in Dehradun in case of need for relief work.
